Looking ahead to ASFA 2025
The ASFA Conference is just around the corner, taking place from 11–13 November on the Gold Coast. I’m looking forward to chairing a panel session on TPD claims, where we’ll explore the rise in mental health claims and discuss how the industry can collaborate to find sustainable solutions. Also at the conference, our CEO, Fiona Macgregor, will join a panel on the future of group insurance, discussing how innovation and member engagement are shaping the next chapter for our industry. I hope to see you there, so don’t forget to come by the TAL expo stand and say hello.
Celebrating excellence in superannuation
Next month’s Super Review’s 12th Annual Super Fund of the Year Awards will celebrate excellence across Australia’s superannuation sector in areas such as innovation, insurance and member outcomes. A special shout-out to this year’s finalists among TAL’s Group Life & Retirement partners: AustralianSuper, AMP Super, Aware Super, Brighter Super, Cbus Super, Mercer, MLC, NGS Super, Prime Super, Team Super, Telstra Super, and Vision Super.
Superannuation service standards update
The Australian Government has recently held its first round of consultation on proposed mandatory super service standards. While acknowledging that most funds already offer services that meet member and community expectations, the Government wants to see standards lifted through legislation. These changes will likely shape expectations across key areas, including insurance claims handling.
