Welcome to TAL News & Views

Tomorrow I'll be joining Christine Cupitt (CALI), Dean Kambouroglou (Aware Super) and Jenni Baxter (Insurance Consultant) on a panel at ASFA’s Spotlight on Insurance in Sydney. We’ll be discussing the role that insurance in super plays in giving members financial confidence, and exploring how funds can build on member trust to help them make informed decisions about their cover. I’m looking forward to seeing many of you there and continuing this important conversation.

As we mark International Women's Day on 8 March, TAL continues to build on our commitment to gender equality. We've maintained women's representation in senior leadership above our 40% target, reaching over 43% last financial year. We've also expanded paid parental leave to 16 weeks for primary caregivers and six weeks for secondary caregivers. And for 11 consecutive years, we've held the WGEA Employer of Choice for Gender Equality citation, a recognition we don't take for granted.

Digital transformation: why perfect shouldn’t be the enemy of good

TAL's General Manager of Growth and Digital Experience, Jenny Nguyen, explores the integration decisions facing funds as members expect seamless digital experiences across super and insurance. From full system integration to simpler standalone solutions, she shares what TAL has learned from helping funds navigate this spectrum, and how today's decisions shape what AI can enable tomorrow.

Meet our parters: Jane Hogan

This month, we sat down with Jane Hogan, Senior Insurance Governance and Wellbeing Manager at Aware Super, to hear about her journey into group insurance and what's driving Aware Super's focus on member wellbeing. With the fund’s largely female membership working in demanding caregiving professions, Jane shares why early access to mental health support, family-inclusive services and addressing the financial impact of menopause are shaping how the fund looks after its members.

Claims Corner: Supporting women through recovery

For some women navigating an IP claim, recovery doesn't happen in isolation. Caring responsibilities don't stop because someone is unwell, and the support they need has to reflect that reality. This month's Claims Corner explores what that looks like in practice.
