Conexus retirement conference brings super sector together
On 13 August at Old Parliament House in Canberra, the 2025 Conexus Retirement Conference brought together super funds, policymakers, regulators and industry leaders to discuss ways to improve retirement outcomes for Australians. TAL’s Jenny Oliver and Shaun Bransdon shared practical insights on retirement strategies, product innovation and navigating regulatory challenges. The conference concluded with Minister Mulino emphasising the importance of sector-wide collaboration, which TAL actively champions through our partnerships with super funds to develop lifetime income solutions that support members in retirement.
New group insurance in super policy statement
The Actuaries Institute has released a new Public Policy Statement on group insurance in super. It reinforces the importance of insurance in helping Australians achieve a dignified retirement, while calling for simpler, more effective systems that continue to put members first. The Statement also reaffirms the value of the trustee-led model in delivering strong outcomes and protection for members.
At TAL, we share this focus and continue to work closely with our partners to strengthen the role of group insurance within super. You can read the full Statement here.
Partnering towards digital and AI transformation
Super funds are under pressure to keep pace with rapid digital change, and TAL’s recent Executive Forum brought together industry leaders to share how AI and technology can drive better outcomes for members. From practical use cases to the challenges of culture and governance, the discussions highlighted why collaboration and shared learning are key to moving forward.
