Our Contribution Report 2021/22 reflects on the contribution we make to meet the needs of all our customers, partners and stakeholders, and how we continue to make a meaningful contribution as a life insurer, an employer, and as part of the broader Australian community.

The 2021/22 financial year1 demonstrated once again the spirit and resilience of TAL’s people, as together we navigated a period of rapid change, opportunities, challenges, and ultimately, made significant progress as a business for the benefit of our partners and customers.

I’m particularly proud of the highlights the report mentioned that we delivered for our superannuation fund partners:

  • TAL Partner Forums brought together many of you to encourage the exchange of ideas and insights on important industry topics
  • Roll out of Claims Assist to 14 partners to help members simplifies claim tracking by allowing customers to upload documents, review the status of their claim and clarify any outstanding information requirements.
  • Launch of Carer Assist to recognise the role of carers for members who make a claim, offering them a range of services and support to lighten the load
  • Continued roll out of Headlight to support the mental health of members
  • Investing in our digital capabilities to enable more simple, seamless and transparent experiences for superannuation funds and members
  • Launch of TAL Insurance Academy to support the professional development of your teams.

Paying claims is the most important thing we do

Every day at TAL, we work to help Australians live a life filled with choices, options and freedoms – no matter what happens.

TAL now protects 4.5 million people, but it is the support for those customers when they need us most that defines the role that we play in their lives. During the 2021/22 financial year, TAL paid $2.7 billion in claims to 39,628 customers and their families across all TAL insurance products2 supporting more customers during their most difficult times than ever before.
