Welcome to Group Bulletin - October 2023

Industry -

Welcome to our latest edition of Group Bulletin. It’s been great to be out and about recently, catching up with many of you whether it’s been as part of our regular cycle, strategy days, or hosted events.

On Tuesday this week, TAL announced that Jenny Oliver has been appointed to the role of Chief Executive – Group Life & Retirement. As you know, Jenny has had the dual responsibility of Chief Claims Officer and Acting Chief Commercial Officer for several months and we’re delighted to now welcome her full time to the Group Life & Retirement team. A recruitment process is underway to fill the vacant Chief Claims Officer role. If you’d like more information on TAL Executive Team changes, you can read our media release here.

Since our last newsletter, we’ve launched our financial health whitepaper. In light of the challenges many people are facing right now, the paper draws on research which shows parallels between levels of financial literacy and financial stress and outlines where employers can help. If you haven’t done so already, you can get your copy here.

In this edition we look at improvements in our data and reporting, wrap up ASFA’s Spotlight on Retirement, share our new Contribution Report and details of our TAL Assister program with AFLW, and get to know one of our Partnerships team members.

Improving data and reporting

With increasing regulatory data requirements, and in response your feedback, we’ve reviewed our data strategy, and have been working to enhance our reporting capabilities and features. You can find out more about what this means for
you here.

Spotlight on retirement

Default options for retirement products is a current topic in the industry and it was discussed at length at the recent TAL sponsored ASFA Spotlight in Retirement. TAL General Manager – Growth, Retirement & Wealth Partnerships, Ashton Jones led an interesting discussion along with Ben Hillier, General Manager of Retirement Solutions at AMP, and Dr Geoff Warren, Research Director at the Conexus Institute. Find out what they had to say here.

Contributing to our community

TAL has recently released our Contribution Report for our 2022/23 financial year, which highlights the contribution we make to our partners, members and the broader community every day. We understand that the most important thing we do is supporting your members and their families when they need us most. You can view a digital copy of the report here.

We’re also proud to have launched the TAL Assister program, a new initiative that helps motivate and encourage AFLW athletes on and off the field. Find out more about the program and how you can get involved here.
